The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, who was going to brief the council on the latest in regards to the upcoming elections.
The cheque was donated by Mr Dotun Oyetunde and his wife to help Nigerian soldiers in the fight of Boko Haram.
The couple was commended by Jonathan as Nigerian soldiers are the strength of the country and therefore deserve the respect.
Jonathan further expressed Nigerians should look to the couple who are not even amongst the country's richest yet are able to lead by example.
